Move Winners 2018!

Back in the summer term, we took part in our Move Day celebrations.

National Move Day is an annual event which is a chance for schools to celebrate the life-changing impact that The Move Programme has for disabled children across the country.

Each year Move Day has a different theme and this year’s theme was ‘Move at the Circus’, providing the chance for everyone involved to show off their movement skills in some really fun and exciting ways.

From acrobats and jugglers, magicians to clowns, there were some brilliant entrants to the Move Day competition! Many schools across the country sent in photos and descriptions of all the fun they had.

The judging

Judging of the event was based on the following criteria;

The winning school will have:

  • Provided a range of activities, not only for the children to have fun but to practice their movement skills learnt through the Move Programme
  • Demonstrated how the school embraced the theme
  • Provided information about the event and its planning by completing the feedback form
  • Incorporated some fundraising activities

And the winner is...

After much deliberation, as all the schools involved put in some amazing effort to make their Move Days so successful, we are very pleased to announce that the winners of Move Day 2018 are….

Ivy House School!

We turned Move Day into ‘Move Week’, and held some wonderful activities to celebrate Move achievements for pupils, staff and families, including a visit from the circus, a strong man contest and a performance to demonstrate their Move skills!

Well done to all the pupils and staff and a big thank you to our families for supporting us during the week!

You can find out more by visiting the Move website here or looking at our photos and video of the week here

Again, thank you!
