School Move Winner 2019

Every year the Move team in school (Amanda, Kath and Lisa H.) ask for class staff to nominate a child who is on the Move programme to win the annual trophy. The award is presented to the child that has made the most progress in terms of their physical development, whilst on the Move programme.

Past winners have included children and young people that have learnt to use a pacer with support, begun to walk with a Kaye walker and we've even had children that have graduated from the Move programme who are confident movers around a range of settings!

In 2019, the decision to choose just one child was difficult, as there has been such a fantastic response to the Move programme this year! However, after much deliberation, the Move team in school have decided that the winner is...

Olivia!

She has made such fantastic progress over the past 2 years, since joining Ivy House. In 2017, Olivia was using a pacer with support straps. However, she soon gained the confidence to reduce the level of supports being used and progressed onto a Kaye walker. Over the past 12 months staff in school have been working hard with Olivia to develop her core strength and confidence and now she is walking independently with minimal prompts!

Her family have been fantastic advocates of the principles of Move and have been very supportive in encouraging Olivia to walk and move at home. It has been great to work alongside them to ensure that Olivia is able to thrive and grow!

Well done Olivia! You truly deserved to win our Move Award 2019!
